About this role:

PowerDMS is looking for somebody with passion for the mobile space who can help migrate our experience into the hands of all our customers wherever they are, when they need it most. You will work with a team of software engineers to develop client apps for Android that integrate with our backend technology, as well as our UX designers to ensure a consistent experience. As a member of our development team, you will be working fast to iterate and deliver ideas in an agile and lean fashion while listening to customers and seeking to delight them.


What you would do in this role:

  • Take ideas and build amazing Android mobile products that have a direct impact to our customers
  • Research and incorporate latest mobile trends and technology
  • Write automation to test our code and establish a continuous integration process
  • Work with UX team to incorporate customer feedback into future builds
  • Work with QA team to ensure our builds are bug free
  • Plan and estimate effort for architecture, design, and development tasks
  • Collaborate with team members to establish conventions, principles, and patterns
  • Help set and meet deadlines


What you need to know/have for this role:

  • Contributions to existing apps in the Google Play Store
  • Ability to create native apps for Android using Android Studio and related tools required
  • In-depth knowledge of Java as a programming language, Android architecture, and native development required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in full Android mobile software development lifecycle (design, build, test, submit, release)
  • Knowledge of best Android frameworks and third-party libraries such as Retrofit and GSON
  • Understanding of current UI/UX principles for Android Design Guidelines
  • Strong understanding of Object Oriented Programming, MVC, and Design Patterns
  • Experience with REST-based APIs and JSON
  • Strong understand of cloud computing
  • Multi-tasker extraordinaire, dynamic, self-driven
  • Plays well with others and rolls easily with an ever changing environment
  • Bonus: Knowledge/Experience with RxJava, OKHTTP, Retrofit, GSON


Physical/Mental Demands:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, communicate, reach and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility. Duties involve moving materials weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular basis such as files, books, office equipment, etc., and may infrequently require moving materials weighing up to 30 pounds. Manual dexterity and coordination are required while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, calculator, and standard office equipment. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
